Johnson Farms Inc, Plant Nursery and Sod farm

Frequently Asked Questions about our Nursery

Do I have to place my orders in advance?

We are very busy pulling material for deliveries and pick up customers alike, so to better serve you, your orders should be placed in advance. We accept orders via fax or telephone, and we will then confirm a pick up or delivery date and time to fit your needs.

Do you sell to the public?

We have a wholesale license for all of our plant material, and it only allows us to sell to customers within the trade (landscapers, garden centers, etc). Our sod, however, is sold both retail and wholesale. At your time of pick up, if you are a new customer, please bring a business card so that we may enter you into our system for future purchases.

How far do you ship plant material, and what are the freight rates?

We ship as far north as Maine, as far south as North Carolina, and as far west as Illinois. Shipment availability depends on the size of the order, and if it must be doubled up on a trailer with another order in that area. Freight rates vary based on the same factors, and all orders must be at least $2,500 in order to ship.

What trade shows do you attend?

Every year, you can visit our booth at P.A.N.T.S., M.A.N.T.S., N.J.N.L.A., and New England Grows trade shows.

What zone are you in?

Johnson Farms is located in the 7A zone.

Do you grow “native plants?”

Yes, we grow plants native to New Jersey. We also grow plants that will do well in zones 3 through 8.
